First Job Interview

Job interviews can be very challenging for those who are ill-prepared, especially for first-timers. A first job interview is very special but at the same time, it is a hard nut to crack.
Freshers find it difficult to answer the tricky questions asked in the interview for the first time. Thus they unknowingly commit mistakes which makes their selection difficult.
So it’s important to be well-prepared before going for the job interview.

Here are a few things that you can do to make your first interview a cakewalk.

1. Research about the company-
Before walking into the interview room it’s very important to have a good understanding of the work culture and company history, their aim and objectives.
This would be possible only when you do proper research. You can go through the company website, social media pages that include their official Facebook account, LinkedIn page and check out their previous and current projects to get an idea of what they do. Apart from that, get a brief idea about the founders and CEO of the company so that you can connect with the employers well. Do all this in advance for proper knowledge.

2. Dress accordingly-
The first impression is the last. This holds great importance in job interviews. The way you dress up speaks a lot about your personality. An improper dressing can put you in unnecessary trouble. If possible check out what dress code works in the company so that you can dress accordingly to look like a part of the company. It will create an impression of your willingness to join the company.

3. Be mindful of your non-verbal communication-
Non-verbal communication includes your walking style, eye contact, and facial expressions. These non-verbal communication skills add a lot to your personality. Body language can create a huge impact on the person you are dealing with. Put a gentle smile on your face, make proper eye contact, and nod after each conversation to show your willingness and enthusiasm. Make a firm handshake with the employers and greet them when you enter and leave the interview room.

4. Familiarise with your resume-
Freshers mostly make the mistake of copy-pasting the resumes from the internet. This should be strictly avoided. Because your resume is the first thing that will speak for you before you do that. So make it unique. Make sure you are well-versed with the things you have mentioned in the resume so that you can answer all the counter questions regarding your resume.

5. Prepare yourself beforehand for expected questions-
There are certainly obvious and general questions that every interviewer asks, so make sure you are well prepared for that in advance. You can look for such questions and answers on the internet.

6. Prepare your questionnaire-
Make sure you also have a few questions prepared in advance to ask at the end of the interview. This will ensure your willingness to be a part of the company. But don’t ask absurd questions. Be thoughtful with what you’re asking.

7. Organise your documents-
Your documents hold great importance in the interview. So make sure they are all arranged properly. Keep a Xerox copy of each document so that you can hand it over to them if asked.

8. Be confident-
Your confidence is the biggest asset you can ever carry. So don’t think you are not enough. Be confident in the way you speak and behave.

Everyone has a dream to crack the interview for their dream job. But the fear of rejection and lack of confidence makes it a very challenging task.
